Contest for Unpublished Work

PNWA Literary Contest: Create, Develop, Submit

There comes a time when you know you need to send your work out in the world and see what readers think. The PNWA Literary Contest offers that opportunity. Every entry receives two valuable critiques – feedback that will help you grow as a writer.  There are also cash prizes.  First, second and third place winners are chosen by agents and publishers. Winners are announced every year at the Summer Conference in front of writers, agents and publishers.  There are 12 categories and you can enter more than one. All for just $35 per entry for current PNWA members/ $75 per entry for non-members. What are you waiting for? Be bold and enter.

Entry Options for PNWA 2018 Literary Contest

Based on your feedback, we’ve made some changes to our contest this year.  You will still be able to enter via mail or online. However, the online process is a hybrid one.  You submit your manuscript online, but you mail in your entry form and a self-addressed stamped envelope to receive your critiques in the mail.  We feel this is the best way to ensure everyone receives their critiques in a timely manner.

NaNoWriMo Discount

Did you participate in NaNoWriMo in November 2017?  If so, you are eligible for a discount.  Get 10% off the entry fee if you entered NaNoWriMo OR 15% off if you 'won' - meaning you got to 50,000 words.  To claim your discount, we'll need to see a screen shot of your 2017 novel and the word count.  To do that, log into your NaNoWriMo account.  Click on the 'novel' tab to show the title of your 2017 novel and then click on 'stats' to show the word count.

DEADLINE: ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY FEBRUARY 23, 2018.

    success story
PNWA Literary Contest Entrant: Tara Sheets

My novel, Don’t Call Me Cupcake, won First Place in the PNWA Literary Contest for the Women’s Fiction/ Romance category. An agent from Trident Media Group saw my contest win on the PNWA website and contacted me.  After reading it, she offered representation and we took my book out on submission.  Shortly thereafter, I accepted a 3-book deal with Kensington Publishing in NYC.  Don’t Call Me Cupcake will be released April 2018, followed by the next two books in the series with release dates in 2018 and 2019.

PNWA Literary Contest Entrant: Melee Vandervelde

Eric Ruben has asked me to join his agency, and I have PNWA to thank for giving me the opportunity to meet him and make my pitch. I'm very excited to be working with such a talented agent.

PNWA Literary Contest Entrant: Meagan Macvie

I'm excited to announce my debut novel, The Ocean in My Ears, will be out Nov 7, 2017 from Ooligan Press. The novel was a 2016 PNWA literary contest finalist in YA, and the cover was in the top three for the 2017 PNWA cover contest!
